Sometimes after a setup or an update, even without any app emulating a mouse (Ayaspace, Handheld Companion, Controller Companion, etc…), your controller will also highlight elements of the interface with a white rectangle - for instance in the start menu or the xbox app.
When emulating a mouse with your controller you’ll have both the mouse hovers and the controller whit focus zones, causing many UI problems.
A working solution can be found here (and is copied below)
This is a solution that involves rolling back the Xinput driver to an older one
that does not support UWP.
- Download the cab file "Microsoft - Game Devices, Other hardware - XBOX 360 Controller For Windows" Last Updated "8/12/2009” this page.
- Use 7-Zip to extract the cab file.
- Open "control panel" and search for and navigate to "device manager".
- In "device manager", if you have an Xinput controller plugged in, when you scroll down you will eventually see "Xbox 360 Perphearals". Click it.
- Right click on "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" and select "Update Driver Software".
- Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
- Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", then the “Have Disk…” button and click on “Browse”
- Select the "xusb21.inf" file from where you previously extracted the cab file then click "Open".
- Click "OK" > “Next” and then Restart your console
- That’s it !
